Sermon to Yasa |
|
While the Buddha spent Vassa (the Rains Retreat) in the Isipatana
Forest, he met a man named Yasa who was tired of family life. “Here
is commotion. Here is discomfort”, complained Yasa. Hearing Yasa's
complaints, the Buddha replied “Here
is no commotion. Here is comfort”. Upon hearing
a sermon given by the Buddha, Yasa attained Arahant (fully-awakened
being). He later became a bhikkhu himself along with fourty-four of his friends
and his parents and wife were the first lay-devotees to accept the Triple
Gem as their refuge. |
