Thai Fathers Day

His Majesty King Bhumibol Adulyadej, King Rama IX, was born on December 5, 1927 to Prince Mahidol of Songkhla and Mom Sangwan. His Majesty is the ninth King of the Chakri Dynasty and the longest reigning monarch in the history of Thailand.

In the culture of Thailand, the King is recognized as the benevolent father and supreme patron of the nation. The main concern of the king is uplifting of the general well being of the people. Evidence of this can be drawn from His Majesty the King's efforts to improve education, health and agricultural progress in the rural areas. This has led to the establishment of over one thousand Royal projects, initiated or advised by the King.

Because of the King’s role as supreme patron and father of the nation, his birthday is celebrated as Fathers Day, and is observed as a National Holliday in Thailand.
This is a time to honor King and nation, father and home.
